One of my American Girl dolls, Kirsten, recently went to the Doll Hospital for a little fix. She’s over twenty years old and well-loved, so she has some issues. One problem is that in older dolls, especially with pale-colored eyes, like blue (Kirsten) or gray (Molly), the paint can fleck away in the iris and reveal the metal interior. The metal is a reflective silver, so the problem is commonly called “silver eye.”
Fortunately, the Doll Hospital offers a free fix for dolls that have this defect, and I finally decided to get Kirsten fixed. Here are her before and after shots.
